Starting university in an English-speaking or English-medium environment can be exciting, but academic study requires much more than everyday English.
I provide one-to-one support for students preparing to study at university in the UK or at an overseas university where their degree is taught in English.
With over 15 years' experience in UK higher education, I understand the academic, linguistic and cultural challenges that international students can face. My sessions focus on helping you communicate confidently and understand what is expected of you as a university student.
How I can help
Sessions can be tailored to your needs and may include:
Academic writing – developing clear, well-structured essays and assignments
Academic reading – understanding journal articles, textbooks and other academic sources
Seminar and discussion skills – expressing ideas, asking questions and contributing to discussions

Why work with me?
I have worked in UK higher education for more than 15 years as a university lecturer, Programme Leader and Senior Personal Academic Tutor. I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervised dissertations and research projects, and worked extensively with international and English-as-an-additional-language students.
I also have extensive experience of international higher education partnerships and English-medium education, including seven years working with a university partnership in China.
This means I can help you understand not only how to use academic English, but also how academic study works in a university environment.
